Dr. Muhammad acknowledged Dr. Horowitz's "heroic efforts," and praised his newly released book, Emerging Viruses: AIDS & Ebola - Nature, Accident or Intentional? (Tetrahedron Press, 1997) for documenting what a majority of African-Americans have suspected for years - namely that AIDS is a man- made epidemic. Dr. Horowitz's thoroughly documented book clearly reveals that the AIDS and the hemorrhagic fever Ebola viruses were man-made during a "Special Virus Cancer Program." This highly funded largely secret project was administrated by the NCI and developed by Litton Bionetics, a top Army biological weapons contracting firm, between 1962 and the late 1970s. Dr. Horowitz initially presented his findings during a scientific session of the XI International Conference on AIDS in Vancouver last July, prior to the publication of his book in which the incriminating government documents are reprinted. "There is little doubt," Dr. Horowitz said, "based on the published facts, these viruses are laboratory creations. Moreover, the attack of the human AIDS virus simultaneously on specific minority populations in New York City and Central Africa best coincides with contaminated 1974 experimental hepatitis B vaccine trials." These vaccines had been partially prepared in contaminated primates - chimpanzees and humans. The humans had, during the late 1950s and 1960s, received Salk and Sabin polio vaccines that were grossly contaminated by monkey viruses now known to cause immune system problems and cancers. Further, Dr. Horowitz cites evidence that Food and Drug Administration (FDA) officials, in charge of testing and approving vaccines for drug makers, have known of these contamination problems since the early 1970s. "Worst of all, the oral polio vaccine, that we are by law required to give our children, is still littered with monkey viruses due to sloppy antiquated methods of producing the vaccine and an obvious disregard of the facts," Dr. Horowitz reported. Recently, Dr. Muhammad's had his personal and clinic's bank accounts seized by the IRS directly following the approval of his group's alpha interferon AIDS study. Though alpha interferon is a proven immune system booster and cancer blocker, it has not been approved by the FDA for AIDS patients despite substantial scientific research supporting its potential benefits. "These people (FDA & NIH) may be withholding cures for political and economic reasons." Dr. Horowitz added. "These very same organizations, in the past, attempted to pull vitamins from store shelves and regulate beneficial herbs and inexpensive botanicals. Yet, they withhold vaccine contamination risks from health scientists, and the public; while readily approving highly toxic, expensive experimental AIDS drugs such as AZT. The record shows that FDA was intimately involved in developing and testing the (Hepatitis B) vaccine that most plausibly brought AIDS to the world." The moratorium on U.S. Government required vaccines will be seriously considered by Nation of Islam leaders this week, Dr. Muhammad said. Once decided, it may be lifted only following the probe by independent investigators and a Congressional committee's review of all the published facts. In addition, methods of producing safe vaccines for members of the Nation of Islam are currently under investigation by Dr. Muhammad's staff. -end-
